Embarrassingly Bad
Cannot download issues in the background. Can barely download issues in the foreground. Issue archive is a joke. The authors of this app can only save their honor by ritual suicide. Just terrible. How can LJ, a technology periodical, allow this???
Solid start, some room for improvement
Now that LJ has gone digital-only, Im really glad to see them distributing via some fairly mobile-oriented platform. I love the fact that I can use my account to access full issues, and the reading experience on an iPhone 4 is not too bad. A couple of things Id like to see improved would include the ability to mark all "News and Views" items as "read" en masse. Right now it seems like I need to actually load up each and every new item in order for it to be considered no-longer-new. This is tedious, because there were more than 50 items. Im slowly working my way through them one by one, but its frustrating. More broadly, Id like to see options for not even bothering to flag new items in the News and Views. The option to turn off the red "unread count" badge altogether would be great. Another thing, and this is just minor: The imagery does not seem to be optimized for Retina-quality displays. Wouldnt be that hard to re-render some the artwork and make that available for the higher-quality displays. Overall, Im definitely a fan. Just needs a fair bit of polish in some areas. Thank you!
Well done!!
What a great version 1 release! Smooth, easy to use, well laid out. Love the "links" feature (took me a few minutes to realize you need to slide the tab up to access). Overall well done! 100% get my renewal next month! Thanks....
Nice work
After trying this app out I will be resubscribing. Ill be able to take all of my previous LJ issues wherever my iPad goes which is huge. Great job guys!
